Gender Equality & GBV Technical Specialist

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Conduct gender analysis and develop Gender Action Plans; integrate findings into humanitarian and country strategies

    • Ensure gender equality and GBV mainstreaming across all programmes, sectors, and project cycles
    • Provide technical support for programme design, implementation, and evaluation using gender-transformative approaches
    • Contribute to strategic planning, including country strategies and humanitarian response plans
    • Support business development, proposal writing, and fundraising; ensure use of Gender Equality Marker (GEM)
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors and support resource mobilization efforts
    • Strengthen GBV prevention, mitigation, and response services, including survivor-centered approaches
    • Establish and improve referral pathways and GBV case management systems
    • Lead capacity building, training, and mentoring for staff and partners on gender and GBV
    • Identify capacity gaps and develop gender-focused training and staffing structures (e.g., gender focal points)
    • Support and guide assessments, research, gender analysis, and data collection
    • Integrate gender into MEAL systems, including indicators, monitoring tools, evaluations, and learning
    • Promote data disaggregation (age, gender, diversity) and use findings to improve programming
    • Represent the organization in coordination platforms, clusters, and advocacy forums
    • Lead and support gender equality advocacy, campaigns, and communication efforts
    • Ensure gender-sensitive communication and contribute to policy influence and awareness
    • Build and strengthen partnerships with NGOs, government, and women’s rights organizations
    • Support partner capacity building, mapping, and collaboration in gender and GBV
    • Document best practices, research, and innovations for learning and replication
     

Academic Background, Experience and Person Specifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Public Health, Development Studies) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in gender equality and GBV program management within international development.
  • Strong experience in gender mainstreaming and GBV programming.
  • Proven skills in financial management, planning, and budgeting.
  • Experience in coordination, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in proposal writing, reporting, and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning).
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Experience working in diverse, multicultural settings with high cultural awareness.
  • Willingness to travel and work in challenging or remote locations under demanding conditions.
  • Proven ability to influence, inspire, and drive change.
  • Experience in humanitarian program design and conducting assessments, including gender analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Commitment to gender equality, child rights, and humanitarian standards.
