Global Sourcing & Supplier Manager

Strategic Sourcing Team 

The Strategic Sourcing Team is a core part of Procurement, responsible for shaping and implementing sourcing strategies across all office locations. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Leading above-country sourcing to ensure the right global supply solutions are in place 
  • Managing suppliers to maximize value for money 
  • Implementing category strategies for locally sourced goods and services 
  • Supporting local procurement teams through training, capacity building, and ad hoc guidance 
  • Ensuring procurement policies, procedures, and tools are current, relevant, and well understood 

 

Role purpose

The Global Sourcing and Supplier Manager is responsible for enabling the Strategic Sourcing Team to achieve its objectives as detailed above. They will complete a variety of activities and hold multiple responsibilities as per the strategy/priorities, candidate’s interests and current portfolio of sourcing demand and capability initiatives.

Work Pattern: Hybrid/Remote with flexible working options available  

Contract Length: Permanent  

Grade: P4

Principal Accountabilities 

  • Lead and own designated categories of spend, driving strategy, planning, and execution to maximize impact and value. 
  • Manage global supplier relationships within assigned categories, ensuring high performance, compliance, and cost efficiency. 
  • Deliver global sourcing initiatives and provide strategic support to Country Offices, ensuring best value and contribution to global financial targets. 
  • Champion and implement project-based initiatives to simplify, innovate, and enhance procurement processes across the organization. 
  • Strengthen the skills and capabilities of colleagues through coaching, training, and hands-on support. 
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret procurement and sourcing data, delivering clear insights and recommendations through well-structured presentations (e.g., PowerPoint). 
  • Oversee high-value, country-led procurement to ensure adherence to policy, optimal value for money, and risk mitigation. 
  • Drive the adoption and effective use of ProSave (Save the Children’s SAP Ariba Source-to-Pay system) to standardize and optimize procurement operations. 

 

Experience and Skills 

Essential 

  1. Clear desire and motivation to work in the not-for-profit sector 
  2. Significant experience in Category Management, with a strong track record of delivering value through strategic sourcing initiatives. 
  3. Sourcing (multiple multi-million-dollar processes completed with evidence of successful implementation – e.g. financial benefits, stakeholder feedback etc.) 
  4. Experience of Procurement Operations / Buying activities 
  5. Knowledge of using e-procurement systems (SAP Ariba is desirable) 
  6. Analytical skills and critical thinking / problem solving skills 
  7. Project management 
  8. Stakeholder management and influencing skills (to a senior level)  

Desirable 

  • Experience of working in a large international organisation (Non-Profit)/ Private Sector 
  • Knowledge of specific categories of spend specific to the role (e.g. IT, Pharmaceuticals, CVA, NFI’s, Fleet) 
  • Experience of leading training programmes / activity on complex procurement matters or categories. 
  • French, Spanish or Arabic language fluency 

 

Education and Qualifications

Desirable

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain management or similar.
