To lead on the continued development, migration and maintenance of Save the Children’s global digital asset management (DAM) system – working with all members and Country Offices to support their needs.
To lead the management of visual content using Save the Children’s global digital asset management (DAM) system, Content Hub – disseminating high quality digital content across the global membership and to country programmes.
This role is responsible for the systems for collection, archiving and re-purposing of film, photographs and multimedia assets, including overseeing all licensing and permissions across the entire Save the Children Movement.
To lead best practice ethical and safeguarding standards plus legal requirements for the storing and sharing of Content for the entire Save the Children Movement – this includes but is not limited to film, photography, audio recordings, case studies, interviews, personal information on consent forms.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile on the development and sharing of content in partnership with the Global Media Unit and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Principal Accountabilities
• Lead the Global DAM System:
Independently manage Content Hub, Save the Children’s secure repository for visual content, ensuring it operates effectively as both an archival and active resource.
• Drive the development and Implementation of a DAM Strategy:
Research and consult with stakeholders to design a future-proof DAM strategy that meets global needs, enhances user experience, and secures appropriate investments.
• Act as Creative Advisor:
Build deep knowledge of available assets and guide global teams on selecting content that best supports their objectives and campaigns.
• Optimize Content and Collections:
Curate and maintain up-to-date, relevant collections aligned with global priorities, providing feedback to improve content quality and address information gaps.
• Lead on Compliance and Data Governance:
Oversee compliance with global data privacy laws, manage consent forms, and implement permissions, security groups, and usage agreements to safeguard assets.
• Enhance System Performance:
Manage uploads, metadata, enhancement and bug fixes while collaborating with the vendor to continuously optimize the DAM system’s functionality and reliability.
• Develop Training for Users:
Deliver regular training through workshops and sessions to empower users, improve the user experience, and enable content managers to process their own materials.
• Review and Improve User Experience:
Analyse system usage and content popularity, applying insights to refine how assets are presented and ensure intuitive search functions.
• Lead External Representation:
Represent Save the Children at DAM conferences and events, learning from colleagues across different industries, sharing expertise to enhance the organisation’s reputation and knowledge network.
• Manage and Develop Team:
Supervise and support a staff member, fostering their professional growth, skills development, and well-being.
Experience and Skills
Essential
1. Significant years of professional experience with archiving and asset/records management with digital multimedia – ideally in a humanitarian/news agency
2. Knowledge of ingesting, editing and archiving digital media for film production and photography
3. Strong knowledge of asset specific metadata (e.g. IPTC, Dublin Core etc.) and how to build and maintain robust keyword taxonomies
4. Experience of using film and photo editing software and image manipulation in Photoshop
5. Knowledge of digital asset copyright laws and experience with licencing and distribution of material under copyright
6. Project Management: Prioritizing factors, tracking progress, and setting milestones
7. Ability to write in plain English, and basic copy-editing and proofreading skills
8. A high level of computer literacy (eg word, excel, databases, desk top publishing skills)
9. Ability to understand and accept the requirement for sensitivity/confidentiality when handling Information
10. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including managing staff and consultants and the ability to inspire and mobilise people from diverse business areas, to support and engage with the Content Hub
11. Excellent understanding GDPR and ensure content is stored and shared accordingly
